Southwest Alberta Child and Family Services
One of ten Child and Family Service Authorities (CFSAs) in the province, the Southwest Alberta CFSA provides a range of supports and services to children, youth, adults and families residing in Southwest Alberta and surrounding areas. The Service Authority, through its programs and resources, supports families and communities to provide safe and nurturing environments for their children and strives to break the cycles of family violence, abuse and poverty that prevent some children from becoming strong, healthy individuals.
Lethbridge Family Services (LFS)
LFS is an accredited, not-for-profit agency committed to assisting the individuals and family units to improve function within the home, at work and in the community. This is achieved by understanding and dealing adequately with situations that adversely affect people's lives. Specific programs and counselling are available for families dealing with domestic violence.
The YWCA provides many supports to both the family and the community. They provide programs such as GirlSpace, Counseling, LIFE, Project Child Recovery, Safe Visitation, and Out Reach support. They also provide shelter to women and childern in need. Families are provided accommodations for a maximum of 21 days, with staff available for counselling and support 24 hours-a-day. Education sessions on the impact of family violence on children, cycle and dynamics of violence, and safety planning are available for all clients.
